Development
The app was developed to simplify diagnosing an episode of altered consciousness as epileptic or not.
It came about through painstaking history-taking in epilepsy clinics in Nepal so it is based on real patients.
The most important questions in the history have been determined using a Bayesian approach and these have been used in this app.
The app was tested further in other populations in Nepal and India.
We have shown that it is easy to use for doctors and health workers and patient entry usually takes less than 5 minutes.
